Channeled Messages From Within

At around Christmastime in 2004, my Dad, a retired police officer, boat builder and talented wildfowl carver, was unexpectedly diagnosed with Leukemia.  From the onset, the doctors made him aware that his cancer was fatal.  However, the coming year was to be a monumental milestone in the life of him and my mother – they would be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, so Dad remained bravely determined not to die.  Dad’s wish was to dance with his bride at that celebration.  And, so although he spent the majority of the next year hospitalized while undergoing extensive treatment to extend his prognosis, he did come home in September for the loveliest gathering of family and dear friends, and yes, he danced with his wife.

Almost immediately following the anniversary party, Dad returned to the hospital to resume treatment, still not fully accepting the inevitability of his passing.  During one of my weekly visits with Dad, he described a man to me who he said entered his room at night and sat in a chair, quietly reading by his bedside.  Dad was uneasy and confided in me that he thought this man might be a ‘lost soul’ who had passed, but not moved on, from his earthly existence.  Not having seen the man myself, I did not have an explanation for Dad at that time, and so I just dismissed his inquiry.

Later that evening, while on my drive home, I went into a light trance and met my Dad’s bedside companion.  He presented himself to me exactly as my Dad had described him, a man of Indian descent, dressed in a long white robe, carrying a book in his hand.  He emitted a glow that was whiter and brighter than any shade I had seen before.  The man introduced himself to me as Dad’s guardian angel.  He softly told me that throughout Dad’s life he had never left his side.  It was he that lifted the car that pinned Dad and another woman when they were struck by a driver blinded in a snow storm.  And, it was he who held up a bullet-proof shield in front of Dad when he went to the aid of fellow police officers during city riots.  He also protected our entire family when Dad befriended a down-and-out soul and shared our home with him, to later find out he was a serial arsonist.  I recalled each of these events as he spoke about them to me, and I began to understand that although Dad appeared to gallantly face his immortality, he was secretly fearful and uncertain of the unfolding events, and that his guardian angel was once again with him to support, comfort and console him.  He assured me that he would be there with Dad to usher him into the Light of Heaven at the end of his earthly existence.  Now, I could clearly talk with Dad about his spiritual companion.

How can we tell that our angels are actually with us?  Many of us hear angelic sounds or tones beyond human description.  Others feel their warmth or light touch upon their skin like a gentle hug upon their shoulders.  Others feel a rush of air when the angel is on a mission.  And others, such as myself, feel an inexplicable presence usually accompanied by a glowing light.

When you recognize the presence of your guardian angels, you can ask them for guidance.  You can communicate with them by verbally relating your problem or need, by mentally thinking your prayer, or meditating as a way of connecting with them in a state of peaceful grace.  Be open to receiving their communication through subtle messages and signs.  Be aware of subtle changes around you such as lights, color or form.  You may see a presence, feel a tingling sensation or experience overwhelming love.

From the moment of your birth, your guardian angels are your constant companions who help guard and protect you, comfort and support you, inspire and empower you.  Angelic powers include showing us the truth in any situation, guiding us with creative ideas, protecting us, answering our prayers, healing us physically and emotionally and caring for us at the moment of our death.  It is reassuring and comforting to know that our guardian angels are always with us.
